Florence is known for its beautiful cathedrals and rich Catholic history, which can be seen on nearly every corner. Even so, the city is a melting pot of many people and their religions, showcasing some of the most breathtaking architecture in the city. So, whatever religion you are, or however you choose to worship, there is sure to be a place for you to practice in Florence.
Evangelical Christian: Mosaico Church
Mosaico Church is an Evangelical Christian church. The pastor, Scott Pethtel, received his Bachelor’s Degree in Intercultural Studies from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. He has been the pastor at Mosaico Church since 2015. This church has a large community of study abroad students, making it easy to meet young people from all around the world. Church service is at 11am on Sundays—in English with an Italian translator available in the back. CRU, a college ministry that started in the US, has a team at this church that hosts weekly bible studies for young adults and weekly discipleship for those who are interested.

Catholic: Sant Apostoli
Sant Apostoli is a Catholic Church here in Florence with an English service on Sundays that is a favorite of many American study abroad students. The historical church is a small and intimate located near the river. Father Kramer Cameron creates a friendly and welcoming environment to ensure anyone who is interested feels welcome to attend mass and join the parish. English mass is held Sundays at 10:30am and Tuesday night, there is a mass that has some English.

Episcopal: St. James
St. James is a part of the Episcopalian Church of the United States of America. They offer ministry in both English and Italian. Reverend Richard Brooks Easterling has been in Florence with his husband for four years after some time in the state of Louisiana. On Sundays at 11am, the church holds Mass and Eucharist with a community coffee hour to follow. This is a time to worship the Lord and then connect with fellow believers.

Anglican: St. Mark’s English Church
St. Mark’s English Church is the local Florentine Anglican Church. Meetings take place on Sundays at 10:30am. This church strives to produce a welcoming environment for all. Their website states: “We believe in INCLUSIVE CHURCH, which welcomes and serves all people, which celebrates and affirms every person, and does not discriminate.” They also host biweekly small groups and special services for holidays. The church also acts as a venue for many different events and has a beautiful choir.

Jewish Reform: Shir Hadash
Shir Hadash is a Jewish reform and progressive community of the Jewish religion in Florence. They use trilingual prayer books containing Hebrew, English and Italian. Equal participation of all people is encouraged, regardless of gender, age and sexual identity. Synagogue
There is a traditional Jewish synagogue here in Florence. This beautiful synagogue was built in 1870, during the height of the Italian Jewish emancipation. They offer services Saturday mornings at 9am, though you must submit a copy of your ID to segretario@firenzeebraica.it by noon on Friday before you attend.

Mormon: The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints
From the church website: Each meeting is one hour. If you attend both sacrament meeting and one of the meetings for men, women, or children, you can expect services to be about two hours long.

Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses is the closest place for followers of the Jehovah’s Witnesses community to congregate. They are located just five minutes outside the old city walls near the river.
