Meet the staff: Alessia

The SRISA staff is the essential backbone of the school, the heart of your new Italian family. Willing to help in any way, whether it be drawing you a map or pronounce a word for the 10th time, they are patient and always smiling. I thought it was time to highlight them and all the great things they do. How are they amazing, and how do they handle all these crazy students?! Keep checking back for more interviews with the SRISA staff.

Alessia Alessandri

Job title: Field Trip Coordinator

Student Perspective: “From field trips to apartment information, Alessia had all the answers. From the first day in Florence she treated us like family. I knew I was in good hands whenever Alessia advised me on my travels. Going on the field trips with Alessia was always amazing due to her laid back attitude and positive nature.” Natalie S. How long have you worked at SRISA?

It was January 2006, I started working at the front desk, already after a week or two I was in love! Now I am the Field trip Coordinator, planning all of the fun activities for our students.

What do you love about working at SRISA?

I love the art students! I love the future that you are building. I love your enthusiasm, your plans, your trips all around Europe. Helping you plan trips is like getting to travel with you.

What makes SRISA different/special from other study abroad programs?

It’s something hopefully you have noticed, we are unique! Everyone here is not just “at work” we care, we are the best staff ever!

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I recently visited New York and Miami so I would like to go see more of the USA, somewhere in California like San Francisco.

If you had to eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Pizza! Though I couldn’t pick just one kind, I love all of the varieties of pizza. I also love Gelato

What do you do in your free time? Hobbies, interests?

I used to have more time for hobbies and activities, like going to concerts and being in musical theater. I am a singer and used to do a Janis Joplin tribute called “Tell Mamma” I was in a production of RENT, and was even in an ABBA tribute (complete with fancy costumes!) I still sing in a blues duo, with me and a guitarist, but now I love being with my son, Adriano, family is very important to me.

What is your favorite holiday?

Christmas. Adrianno was 2 years old this year and he understood what was happening, so it was magic again, he was shouting “regalo! regalo!” He talks about Christmas all the time now, watching tv Christmas episodes and asking when it is coming.

Who is your favorite musician?

I have so many! Rock and roll is my favorite genre. I love Janis Joplin, David Bowie, the Foo Fighters, and ACDC. I get to see them in concert this July!
